In a momentous event that marks the fulfillment of a 35-year-old promise by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Prime Minister Narendra Modi illuminated the ‘Ram Jyoti’ on Monday evening after presiding over the ‘pran pratishtha’ ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol within the newly-constructed Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called upon the nation to participate in this auspicious occasion and extend a warm welcome to Ram Lalla by lighting the ‘Ram Jyoti’ (earthen lamps) in their homes.

“On this auspicious occasion, I request all the countrymen to light the Ram Jyoti and welcome Lord Ram in their homes. Jai Siya Ram!” the prime minister conveyed on social media. Following the consecration ceremony, the city of Ayodhya is set to be adorned with the radiant glow of a staggering 10 lakh diyas, transforming its landscape into a mesmerizing spectacle.

Responding to the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, ‘Ram Jyoti’ will be lit at houses, shops, religious places, and historic sites, creating an enchanting ambiance that symbolizes the divine presence of Lord Ram in Ayodhya. Regional tourism officer RP Yadav mentioned, “On the evening of January 22, diyas will be lit at 100 prominent temples and public places. The preparations for this event have been completed. In line with the government’s vision, locally crafted diyas will be used, and local potters are being engaged to provide the diyas.”

The newly-constructed Ram Temple stands as a monument to grandeur and tradition. In the traditional Nagara style, the temple boasts impressive dimensions, with a length (east-west) of 380 feet, a width of 250 feet, and a towering height of 161 feet. Supported by a remarkable total of 392 pillars and featuring 44 doors, the temple comprises three floors, each standing at 20 feet tall. The temple’s pillars and walls are adorned with intricately sculpted depictions of Hindu deities, gods, and goddesses, showcasing the rich heritage and cultural significance of the site.
